National Trip: HMFL&FELIX or Donders (POSTPONED)

Dear SHA students,

For the SHA National Trip of this spring, the SHA is inviting you to join us on our excursion in April/May (date will be announced later due to COVID-19). We are very happy to reveal the institutions we will be visiting: HFML/FELIX or the DONDERS institute.

The researchers at HFML/FELIX build and use high field magnets and infrared/Terahertz free-electron lasers to create extreme conditions that drive matter into previously inaccessible states and phases. This allows them to:

  • investigate the properties and functionality of molecules and materials
  • realize fundamental scientific breakthroughs across a broad spectrum of disciplines
  • tackle societal challenges in the areas of Health, Energy and Smart Materials.

The Donders Institute for Brain, Cognition, and Behaviour is a world-class research center devoted to understanding the mechanistic underpinnings of human cognition and behaviour in health and disease. The Institute’s mission includes conducting interdisciplinary research of excellence at the unique interface between genetic, molecular and cellular processes at one end and computational, system-level neuroscience with cognitive and behavioral analysis at the other end.

During this trip, you will meet fellow-honours students at Radboud University Nijmegen, joining us on the trip. Afterward, a small network-reception will be held at the Radboud University, where you can talk about the research done at the different institutes and to other honours students from a different university.
