The Science Honours Academy stands the practice of science in an interdisciplinary setting, the development of leadership capabilities, and gaining international experience. The Academy brings students together to learn from each other.
Hereby we would like to invite you to the first masterclass of this academic year! Documentary maker and film director Esther Pardijs will interactively show you how cinematography is done. We will focus on the ethical challenges that come with producing a film, documentary or scientific report about a controversial topic, the role and impact you have in society as the person reporting about this, and how you should handle the responsibility of dealing with people who live in difficult situations. ?️
On the first evening, we will watch Esther’s documentary TURN! (with English subtitles) and discuss it, after which you will get a small assignment for the second evening.
On the second evening, we will review the assignment, and then proceed to talk about the ethics of filmmaking and reporting. ?
Due to the new COVID-19 restrictions, the masterclass will have to take place digitally through MS Teams. This will be on Tuesday November 29th (19:00-21:00) and Thursday December 2nd (19:00-21:00). You can only participate if you are available on both evenings!
