Symposium – Neurodegenerative diseases
On Thursday the 5th of April 2018, a symposium took place about “Neurodegenerative Diseases”. It was organized by four students of different studies, which was reflected in the program of the evening. The big variety in the program gave an interesting view on this field of study. This symposium hosted four speakers, who all had a connection to Neurodegenerative Diseases.
The first speaker: prof. dr. Ulrich L. M. Eisel, who talked about immuno-modulation as a promising way to treat neurodegenerative diseases and the molecular details of immuno-modulation. Then we continued with a presentation by dr. Lucia Bossoni. She talked about how magnetism, spectroscopy and magnetometry can give indications of the possible stages of neurodegenerative diseases. After her very interesting talk we had a dinner break with lovely burritos. The first talk after the dinner break was given by: dr. Franke J. Meiland, who talked about techniques that help people with neurodegenerative diseases to stay at home for a longer period of time. This presentation was followed by the last talk from: dr. ir. Charlotte E. Teunissen. She talked about different biomarkers that doctors can use to diagnose different forms of dementia.
The symposium ended up being a great success and as the organizing committee we would like to thank everybody for attending or participating in this event creating the success it was.
